Each year Shoes For All proudly focuses much of their efforts on supporting the Veteran community in need.
Here are the 2018 highlights.
Shoes For All participated in two events held by the Nassau County Veterans Services Agency (VSA), whose mission is to assist and enhance the quality of life of the Nassau County veteran community. The events, known as "Veterans Stand Down" events, are one to three day events providing supplies and services to homeless Veterans, such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings and VA Social Security benefits counseling.
SUMMER 2018: Veterans Summer Stand Down in Freeport was held at the Freeport Armory in July, and Shoes For All was honored to donate 1990 pairs of shoes.
FALL 2018: Veterans Winter Stand Down was held in Hempstead in November. Shoes For All proudly provided 200 pairs of slippers to our Veterans.
FEBRUARY 2018: Shoes Fall All visited with veterans at Borden Avenue Veterans Residence Shelter (BAVR) in Long Island City. This short-term housing shelter accommodates 243 veterans (216 male veterans and 27 female) and works closely with DHS and the Veteran’s Administration to provide coordinated and comprehensive services to homeless veterans residing at BAVR.
Shoes For All distributed much needed new shoes to the many veterans at BAVR in need, and we look forward to our continued partnership.
